Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense combines spicy, woody and sweet notes to alleviate stress and anxiety and promote many other health benefits including joint care, digestive issues, respiratory troubles and oral health.

The Kotanical frankincense (boswellia sacra) is the only frankincense essential oil which is distilled in Ireland using ethically-sourced resin from the Boswellia Carterii tree, farmed by a Somalian co-op.

This essential oil has been used for thousands of years in meditation ceremonies, as well as in ayurvedic medicine, and even has roots in religious scripture. For a rich and relaxing home aroma or massage oil, use frankincense on its own, or blend it with other Kotanical essential oils to add layers to the aroma and broaden its homeopathic appeal.

Frankincense is also used in the unique Kotanical oil blends for the STILL, UNWIND and PURE FOCUS rollerballs.

HOW TO USE

  • Diffuse: add 10-15 drops of essential oil – on its own or as part of a blend with other oils – to 100ml water in a Kotanical stone oil diffuser.
  • Inhale: add 4 drops of essential oil to steaming water – in a bowl or as part of a facial steamer – and inhale deeply for up to 10 minutes.
  • Massage: add up to 4 drops of essential oil to 2tsp of carrier oil such as coconut, almond, jojoba, grapeseed or olive oil.

All Kotanical essential oils contain 100% organic essential oil – free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, formaldehydes, and mineral oil, with a shelf life of 1-2 years.

The organic essential oils are vegan-friendly and certified cruelty free by the leaping bunny program.

We can ship to virtually any address in the world except America. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.

When you place an order, we may provide shipping costs if applicable for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. Depending on the shipping option you choose, shipping date estimates may appear on the shipping quotes page.

To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use and the destination country, orders that weigh more than 2kg will often be split and sent in two or more packages.

We endeavour to dispatch your order within 24 hours of receiving it, please allow for some delays during peak period / Black Friday due to high volumes.

Returns Policy


We hope that you will be pleased with your purchase. However, should you wish to return anything bought from us, we will happily refund any unwanted goods returned within 14 days from date of delivery. All unwanted goods must be returned in an unused,unopened and as new condition as sent to you with the original packaging and any free samples/free gifts received along with a completed returns form. Please note all applicable free gifts and samples supplied must also be returned with your order. If not we will make a discretionary deduction to cover our cost for these items. We will refund the monetary value of the goods returned to us, at the price you purchased them less the true cost to us for shipping the item to you. Please note it is the customer's responsibility to ensure the goods are returned safely to us.


In the unlikely event that your product is faulty upon arrival we will happily replace it. Please contact us within 7 days of receipt of the product and we will be able to assist you. We will refund the monetary value of the goods returned to us, at the price you purchased them including the delivery charges for sending the item to you.

We will refund back to the original method of payment charged only (e.g. credit card, debit card, gift voucher).

My favourite!

Love this oil. Discovered it during lockdown and haven’t looked back since! I use it for grounding myself when I’m feeling anxious or stressed. A few drops on the palm of my hands and I inhale deeply…. It makes such an instant and calming difference. I love diffusing it with a few drops of Bergamot too for a really uplifting feeling around the house. A few drops in the bath is great for sleep too. Loads of uses for this oil! Love it!!
